Eighteenth Season (2015-2016)

AUGUST 23, 2015 at 4pm
BOSTON BRASS
William Stanton Andrews Memorial Town Hall

For 29 years, Boston Brass has set out to establish a one-of-a-kind musical experience. From exciting classical arrangements, to burning jazz standards, and the best of the original brass quintet repertoire, Boston Brass treats audiences to a unique brand of entertainment, which captivates all ages. The ensemble's lively repartee, touched with humor and personality, attempts to bridge the ocean of classical formality to delight audiences in an evening of great music and boisterous fun.

Morgan School Gagnon Auditorium

At age 14, Pianist/Composer/Arranger Emily Bear is one of the most astonishing and prolific musical talents of our time – composing, orchestrating, and performing in an astonishingly (remarkable) diverse collection of styles. She has performed at many of the worlds most famous venues including Carnegie Hall, the White House, Lincoln Center, Montreux Jazz Festival, Blue Note, Ravinia, and the Hollywood Bowl, among others.

CALIDORE STRING QUARTET
William Stanton Andrews Memorial Town Hall

The Calidore String Quartet has
been gaining recognition ever
since it formed at the Colburn
School in 2010. But a young
ensemble—even an extraordinarily talented
one—can use a boost. That came when the
group was named an ensemble-in-residence
at Long Island's Stony Brook University, for
two years. The musicians
(Jeffrey Myers and Ryan Meehan, violins;
Jeremy Berry, viola; Estelle Choi, cello) will
teach undergraduates; and they themselves
get coaching from the Emerson String
Quartet, the university's longtime quartetin-
residence, along with its former cellist,
David Finckel.

APRIL 3, 2016 at 4pm
ASYLUM SAXOPHONE QUARTET
William Stanton Andrews Memorial Town Hall

The four saxophonists met in 2011 as graduate students at the The Hartt School in West Hartford, Connecticut, and adopted their name from Asylum Hill, the storied Hartford neighborhood. Today, the quartet pays tribute to the cultural vitality of Asylum Hill through efforts to engage and captivate diverse audiences and contribute to the vibrancy of its home city.

April 10, 2016 at 4 PM
THE SWINGLES
William Stanton Andrews Memorial Town Hall

For more than half a century The Swingles have pushed the boundaries of vocal music. The seven young singers that make up today's London-based group are driven by the same innovative spirit that has defined the five-time Grammy® winners since they first made waves in the 1960s.

MAY 1, 2016 at 4pm
BARRAGE 8
Morgan School Gagnon Auditorium

Barrage 8 is the latest project from John Crozman, Dean Marshall and Tony Moore, the original creators of the hit show Barrage. Utilizing the same energy, panache and innovative stage performance that Barrage was known for, Barrage 8 features all the instruments in the modern string family. The "8" in the name represents a re-imagining of the string octet: 4 violins, 2 violas, cello and double bass. This instrumentation drives a rich and powerful sonic palette that further explores the musical diversity in the Barrage 8 compositions and arrangements.
